The Impact of Rising Sea Levels |
Posted: July 11, 2018 |
World leaders are working together to make a long-lasting legacy to support the problems with climate change and global warming. 2018 sees rising sea levels greater than at any time in history. Our infographic below showcases the worrying situation we are in across the planet with these rising levels. We have highlighted just a few key US states below so that you can see the immediate need for change with the way we treat our environment and the way we use unnecessary gases such as carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide. Over the past few decades we have used coal, oil and gas to such extremes that we are only now becoming aware of the effect these fossil fuels are having on our lands and seas. Through using the amount of fuels we have been using, the atmosphere can no longer take the heat; resulting in warmer climates, melting ice glaciers, tidal waves, and previously unheard of severe storms and flooding. If we all make small changes in our daily lives, we can individually help with eradicating some of these issues. Use renewable energy, walk more, use less water, switch electricity and gas suppliers to eco-friendly suppliers, turn lights off, use draft-excluders, and turn off electrical powerpoints when not in use - these are just some of the very easy ways to help change your world for the better. Another issue surrounding global warming is that land is eroding into the sea, meaning that towns, villages, cities and potentially populations are likely to disappear over the coming centuries. People will start to move inland, but inland will start to get smaller and smaller, and there is only so much land left to settle on for new communities. See below for a more indepth visual look at what this all means. Source: https://www.eco2greetings.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/sea-levels.gif
